The Mezcalarians
The Mezcalarians is a psychedelic-mezcal-pickled-western that straddles the worlds of narrative and documentary film. Follow three explorers as they embark on a hearty expedition to carry a 50-gallon wood barrel full of fermenting agave through the most remote corners of Oaxaca, Mexico. Armed with only machetes and mezcal the trio must rely on an ancient map to navigate their way through snake filled swamps, sunken temples, demon filled caves, and haunted rail lines. Along the way, the team meets some of Oaxaca's greatest artisans who are single handedly keeping Pre-Colombian indigenous culture and tradition alive. Both fun and educational, The Mezcalarians is a meticulously researched love letter to Oaxaca. Even locals and scholars will learn something new about what makes Oaxaca one of the most unique regions on the planet. This full length feature film premiered at The Explorers Club March 11, 2023
The Great Islay Swim
In 2017, Explorers Club members Chad Anderson and Justin Fornal, along with whisky ambassador Johnnie Mundell, became the first people in history to swim around the island of Islay Scotland. Following in the footsteps of the late Alfred Barnard, the explorers stopped by each of the eight operating distilleries and built upon Alfred’s written account with video, photographs, and scientific exploration.
Starship Enterprise | TEDx
Every now and again, seemingly separate and unrelated innovations converge and, in doing so, irreversibly change the world in profound ways. Since the first satellite, Sputnik in 1957, data from space has been tightly held by a few powerful governments and used to promote national agendas. Small satellites and reduced launch costs have enabled increased access to space, enabling a new wave of entrepreneurs who are providing unprecedented access to this valuable data, thereby breaking the established grip on power and allowing anyone to meaningfully participate in our space future.
